Mr David Cozens is a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon with recognition as such by all of the major medical insurers. Mr Cozens is a BUPA Consultant Partner and the Day Surgery Unit is registered by the Health Care Commission as an 'Acute Hospital' and registered as a Network Hospital on the BUPA Network Hospital System.
As well as lectures and tutorials to fellow professionals, Mr Cozens is a keen contributor to the media on foot surgery and foot related matters with both radio and publication.
Mr Cozens is available to make power point presentations and talks to interested parties for free. Where applicable, any fees, if available, to go to local charities.
David Cozens has been a Surgical Fellow of the "Podiatry Association" since 1991 and a "Fellow of the Surgical Faculty of the College of Podiatrists" since its amalgamation in 1998 to the "Society of Chiropodist and Podiatrists".
He has worked extensively in both Private Practice and the National Health Service. Mr Cozens performed most of his surgical procedures whilst working in the Department of Podiatric Surgery in Hereford for the NHS and privately at a clinic in Reading. He has had 10 years specialist experience in Diabetic, Paediatric and Rheumatology clinics in the NHS and has had over 20 years experience in Sports Medicine and Biomechanics in a very busy private practice in the centre of Reading.
Mr Cozens left Berkshire in 1999 to develop a Podiatric Surgical Service in Norwich; surgically correcting the foot conditions of patients in Norfolk. He was successful in obtaining a full time substantive post as Consultant Podiatric Surgeon. Whilst developing the service Mr Cozens had the opportunity to work in the Plastic Surgery Unit and gained considerable insight and skills as a result of this experience. The service successfully generated extra-contractual referrals that added 50% to his annual budget. He has now returned to his beloved Berkshire and a busy private practice.
Indeed, while he now consults and operates at the Day Surgery Unit here in Bracknell, he still finds time to consult at other clinics across the country. He consults in the centre of Reading at the Brightwell Clinic on Surgical and Biomechanical matters, operates at the Whelby Day Surgery Unit in Old Harlow and consults on sports medicine in the sports medicine unit of the Foot Health Clinic in the centre of Saffron Walden.
Mr Cozens continues to work regularly with the NHS as a Locum Consultant Podiatric Surgeon in the Department of Podiatric Surgery, Hereford; the largest and busiest unit of its kind in England and the unit where David trained and completed his surgical pupilage.
David applies his energetic and enthusiastic approach to all aspects of his patient care and has an excellent reputation for explaining the problems in plain English to every patient. Therefore, with this ever-increasing list of specialist experience to call upon, there are few foot-related matters which he cannot help you with.
